I made a pumping station with PVC pipe1/2 and used 3M drywall sceen for fence as well as finishing nails for posts. The base I used an old TYCO building base turned it over and after gluing the pipe nails and old plastic model parts I had saved , I filled it with dry Quikcerete morter mix and then wet it. Then after painting the sreen gray I cut to fit for the fence.
Thanks guys! I just wonted to show that you don't have to pay allot to make stuff for your layout. Just using common thing's and a little creativity there is allot you can do when you only have a little money.
I had a old set of white mini lights and I used them to light up my buildings. I cut the lights off and wired them to a feed line which I wired to a 3v. tranformer that was for a telephone. I got the transformer for 25 cents at a yard sale. Now I only have eight lights on it and if I add more I most likely will have to go with a bigger transformer.
There are things that you may fined that can be repurposed in to something that can be used on your layout? I have been looking at some garden edging that I saw at a big box store that was brown and flat 1/4 inch by 6 inch by 10 feet and is about 20 dollars. I was thinking to use it for roads in witch I would have to cut it down to 4 inches wide, or maybe keep it at 6 inches for a airport runway. But sometimes you can fined things that are plastic that were part of a discarded product or packaging, and with a little creativeness can be made into something you can use. I used 1/2 inch PVC pipe witch I got at Home Depot a four foot length and cut it down for concrete pipe freight, and it cost about $1.50.
